Ram Navami 2017

Ram Navami is the festival to commemorate the birth of Ram, or Lord Rama or to celebrate the wedding anniversary of the Lord Rama and Mata Sita.

Lord Rama is the seventh incarnation of Dashavatara of Vishnu and was born to Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya of Ayodhya.

The celebration of Ram Navami begins early in the morning with a prayer to the Sun. It is believed Sri Rama was born in the afternoon, a special prayer is also held at that time.

The date falls in the Shukla Paksha on the Navami, ninth day of the month of Chaitra.
