Festival of Holi is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima, also called Festival of Colour.
It is an ancient Hindu religious festival with various legends associated with it, also marks the beginning of spring.
The evening of the full moon, bonfires are lit to ward off spirits and celebrate victory of good over evil. The following day the community pile join for the beginning of the main Holi ritual, the throwing of coloured powders and water.
